Located on the banks of the Gomati River, The Lucknow Regional headquarters of the R.B.I., sits on a six acre site. The building has a blend of a distant character of local architecture coupled with characteristic solidarity of other R.B.I. Buildings; as a result it serves as a landmark in the area. In terms of a programme the building consist of areas like vaults, office working spaces, conference area, safety yard and dining hall. Two rotundas on the North and West side define strategic entry points for public and employees. The main building is 52 M in plan with service blocks placed at corners as pylons, this gives visual stability and sense of solidarity to the building .The overlooking projections on upper floors protect the external glazing on all sides, from direct sunlight .Raised earth berms covered with landscaped gardens and lawns protect the bullion vaults and merge the building with the surrounding lawns.
